Effects of preventive medicine for cardiovascular diseases in women

Project summary

It is known that the effect of medication can be different between men and women. With this project, dr Roeters van Lennep investigates the five most frequently used medicine for cardiovascular diseases: she wants to know the side effects that are different for men and women, the cause of these side effects and the mechanism(s) that causes these sex-dependent side effects. Also, the actual mechanism by which the medicine works could be different between men and women.

By investigating the different sex-dependent side effects and the mechanism that causes these differences in the five most commonly used cardiovascular medicines the impact of this research for patients could be big.
