NOSANO

Project summary

With the NOSANO study, Erasmus MC wants to gain insight into the treatment preferences of patients with esophageal cancer.

Erasmus MC notes that some patients prefer immediate surgery, while others refuse surgery and opt for frequent monitoring. Even now it is not yet known whether this is actually a safe alternative to direct surgery. By means of questionnaires and interviews with patients, the researchers want to discover which personal motives play a role in this preference. The information from the interviews is used to develop educational material for patients.
In addition, based on the results, Erasmus MC can also train doctors better to guide esophageal cancer patients with treatment choices.
